Challenge: When a utilities construction company needed to replace two broken stationary pumps in a sewer station, they needed a way to bypass the existing pumps while the repairs were made, as well as overcome high lift and high head requirements.
Solution: MSP Rents designed a pumping system using two high-pressure pumps sized to overcome the high lift and high head requirements of the job. The primary pump was hooked to an external fuel tank for extended run time, and both the pump and tank were contained in a special environmental spill berm. The secondary pump was equipped with a satellite communications system was programmed to alert MSP and the Client in case of any problems. Because these two pumps were pumping into a force main, a system of check valves and gate valves gave our Client the ability to isolate each pump if necessary.
